One of the original Grindstone Neck residences, Ledgecroft was built in 1891. This beautifully restored and maintained shingle-style cottage exhibits many decorative details. Soaring ceilings, original woodwork, native granite pillars, beadboard walls and coffered ceilings illustrate some of the traditional 'old world' charm of this 'Grand Dame'. The eight-bedroom, four-and-a-half-bathroom residence has detailed fireplaces, an eat-in kitchen, sun room, den and expansive open and covered porches that overlook the large lawns. The property has undergone a full renovation, and traditionally used seasonally with town water. The home has a Sonos sound system with music delivered to the living room, kitchen, office/den and front porch. Several clubs and recreational opportunities are nearby, with shops and restaurants in town. There is always something going on in Winter Harbor, with festivals, concerts, and a variety of activities, as well as the shore and trails for hiking on Grindstone Neck and Schoodic Peninsula, a part of Acadia National Park. While this community was originally created in 1889, the grand cottages have been lovingly preserved, and in many ways, it seems little has changed in this lovely summer community.
