For more than 20 years, Rachel Crater has built her career around a simple idea: taking care of people matters.
Her background in Maine’s hospitality industry has given her a unique perspective on real estate, combining a deep understanding of exceptional service with extensive experience in marketing, business development, and the properties and communities that make Maine such a special place to live, visit, and invest.
Based on Mount Desert Island, Rachel has spent years working alongside local business owners, community leaders, and hospitality professionals throughout Downeast and Central Maine. Her work has taken her inside some of the region’s most distinctive properties and given her an appreciation not only for the buildings themselves, but for the stories, businesses, families, and communities behind them.
That experience naturally led Rachel to real estate. She brings a marketer’s eye to positioning and presenting a property, a hospitality professional’s commitment to service, and an advisor’s approach to helping clients make thoughtful decisions. Whether working with someone buying a home, preparing to sell a property, or navigating the purchase or sale of an independent inn, B&B, or boutique hotel, Rachel believes the best real estate relationships are built on trust, clear communication, and genuinely understanding what matters to the person on the other side of the table.
Rachel is especially passionate about Maine’s independent hospitality industry. In addition to residential real estate, she works as a hospitality advisor, helping independent lodging businesses strengthen their marketing, guest experience, and long-term success. Bringing those two worlds together allows her to offer hospitality buyers and sellers a perspective that goes well beyond the transaction.
Deeply invested in her community, Rachel serves as President of the Bar Harbor Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors and has been involved in initiatives supporting tourism, hospitality, leadership, and the Mount Desert Island community.
Outside of work, Rachel is happiest taking advantage of everything that makes Maine home—hiking, paddling, exploring Acadia, and spending time with her husband and family. For Rachel, real estate isn't simply about property. It's about helping people build the life, business, or next chapter they envision in a place she is proud to call home.
