Maine's Southern Seacoast is full of hidden gems between the tourist destinations. To find them, you just have to ask the locals, we asked Portsider and Seacoast resident Cindy McKenna what her top picks are for York, ME, after all she's lived in the area for 29 years!
Best Beach:
"I'm partial to York Harbor Beach, this beautiful little hidden cove beach is right in my neighborhood. I love taking a quick bike ride on summer mornings. Starting my day with a coffee and amazing view over the water, it's just perfect!"
Farmers Market:
"Every Saturday the York Chamber Farmers Market has a selection of bakers, makers, and artisans who gather off Route 1, there's always a new and exciting business to support!"
Favorite Restaurant:
"You can't beat the view and vibe at Stones Throw, right on Long Sands Beach! Their outside dinning feels like your right on the sand! It's a great spot if you love people watching too!"
Hiking Trail:
"The Brave Boat Headwaters Trail in Kittery/York is the perfect hidden spot to meander through the woods. This peaceful walk leads out into Brave Boat Harbor, where the views are just...WOW!"
