Portside’s 1% Back to Maine is proud to share it has granted Tree Street Youth with a $2,500 grant for Social-Emotional Learning for Lewiston Children Pre-K to 5th Grade.
Tree Street Youth (TSY) was founded in 2011 and today provides community support to over 500 students from Pre-K - seniors in high school. Their mission is to create youth-centered programs and partnerships that encourage leadership, learning, exploration and growth. TSY has 7 major programs, all acronyms named aptly after trees. Portside’s 1% Back to Maine grant provides discretionary funding for children in Lewiston from Pre-K to 5th Grade in the WILLOW program.
"We are grateful for this support to further our mission! Flexible funds help us remain nimble as an organization and constantly adapt to our youth and community needs! Thank you for your thoughtful gift!" Tree Street Youth Executive Director, Julia Sleeper shares.
The WILLOW program (Wonderful Inspired Little Leaders Of the World) provides year-round after school and summer programs. Youth work with mentors who provide enrichment classes and they also participate in the BRANCHES program.
